Temagami Boat Livery is owned and operated by Rene and Lillian LaPerriere. The business was started by Rene's father in 1942. Over time, the family built up a steady business from five rental cabins and a dozen or so boats. The docks served as the main jumping off point for all cottagers and boaters using Snake Island, Cassells and Rabbit Lakes. |
| In 1974, the LaPerriere's sold the business. The operation changed hands twice over the next 20 years. By the time Rene bought the business back in 1994, the facilities needed upgrading, the operation was financially strained and the relationship the LaPerriere's had built up with the lake users had diminished. |  |
| It wasn't easy getting Temagami Boat Livery back on solid footing. Due to the previous owner's mismanagement, important suppliers were wary, customers had gone elsewhere and the name had become synonymous with poor service. Rene and Lillian had their work cut out for them. However, they quickly proved the doubters wrong. They undertook a major overhaul of the docking facility. They built up a strong working relationship with Superior Propane and Grant Fuels. Their willingness to do "whatever was needed" brought back the lake traffic. |

Presently, the main income from the business is derived from docking and winter boat storage facilities. They have capacity for 60 boats. In addition, the gas and propane business is very important. Temagami Boat Livery also does a steady business supplying the various needs of the 88 cottagers along the lakes. And with the increased popularity of snowmobiling, the operation remains very busy in winter. They are right on the main trails between Sudbury and New Liskeard, so there are always snowmobile groups going through. |
| In order to meet the increased business, Rene and Lillian purchased a house across the road that can be used for overnight winter or summer accommodation. They have named it "The Hillside". |
